THE CONTINUUM "LIVE" @ CLUB EVOLUTION, every Wednesday night
9pm-2am
$10 cover, 21+
$15 cover, 18-20
The Continuum is SWFL best source for underground only music on any given week. With over 134 shows and over 100 local guest DJ's, Dave Armstrong (founder of The Continuum) has teamed up with Guy Clark (founder of DIRTY HOUSE ENTERTAINMENT) to expand the show from it's 8 x 8 studio into a massive new club called EVOLUTION.
This show now has a local DJ panel, consisting of 12 members (mainly SWFL's top DJ talent), to help to push the boundaries of SWFL EDM further. The board members are looking for new talented DJ's to help expand the roster of resident DJ's, and continue building local support.
This night is unlike any other night at any other club. The money paid at the door goes strictly to the local DJ's, not the club owners or promoters. This is a significant difference and truly sticks to the original mission of The Continuum, which is to help local DJ's keep doing what they love to do, play damn good EDM.
The club will also be streaming LIVE audio and video from the club. The multi-view setup will display the classic view of the DJ BOOTH, but now will also show the DANCEFLOOR -- so what are you waiting for, get your ass down there and show your EDM family some love !!!

REAL TALK w/ DJ DEW from DEWLAND PRODUCTIONS
Meet DJ DEW. THE MUSIC WITHIN had the awesome opportunity to interview DEW and give me some insight to share with all you readers/supporters. DEW is one of the most talented and hardest working DJ's and PRODUCER in SWFL, and also happens to be one of the most under-recognized artist in the SWFL scene. He has produced over 300 tracks, he has been signed on multiple labels, his music is all over BEATPORT and TRAXSOURCE, and he even opened for TIESTO two years ago.
Despite all those milestones achieved, how so is it that guys like DEW can't seem to lock a local club gig? How come none of the local DJ's are talking about his tracks? Why isn't he headlining local shows??
These are the kinds of questions that keep me up at night, because like DEW, I am an artist trying to break through in their hometowns too, and if guys that open for TIESTO can't lock gigs down here... then shit... what then does a DJ gotta do around here?? So I asked the man himself to see if I could get some questions answered...

INSIDE JACK'S HALLOWEIRD CARNIVAL & EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH JC (FOUNDER OF THE RABBIT HOLE)
October 28th
Doors open 8pm till 3am

The Rabbit Hole has proven itself to be the best EDM event in SWFL, and it does so by providing three simple things...
--- Quality DJ's, Sound, and Lighting
--- Reasonable cover charge
--- Parties DO NOT get shut down
Oh yeah, I forgot... there is a fourth element... the Rabbit Hole has JACK !!! For those who don't know or never met JACK "THE RAVE RABBIT" then this is your time to come meet him. He is the face of the Rabbit Hole series, and continues to become ever so popular with the SWFL EDM scene.
Ofcourse, without the support of the local EDM scene, there would be no Rabbit Hole, no JACK, no fun. After speaking with JACK himself about his upcoming party, I am convinced that this party will exceeds everyone's expectations.
So many readers of my blog have asked me to ask JC questions about the upcoming Rabbit Hole, so below is my interview with JC....
TELSO: So right off the bat, are you as optimistic and excited about the upcoming Rabbit Hole (RH)??
JC: Ofcourse. We are working hard to make this Halloween memorable.
TELSO: Memorable? So what tricks or treats do you have in your bag?
JC: (laughs) A lot. The treats are the awesome DJ's, VJ's, dancers, psycho clowns, lazers and top notch sound. The tricks... (laughs)... I don't want to spoil the surprise.
TELSO: I thought we were tight!? Just kidding. I'll let you off the hook on that one. So my next question is... that we all know where you want to take the fans to at the Rabbit Hole, but where do you see the RH taking you?
JC: The RH started strictly as a FUN & DRUG FREE project (and I intend to keep it that way) that I had in mind for may years but, because of the demands of my business I had been postponing it year after year waiting for the right time to execute the idea. As long as it's fun, I plan on continuing it indefinitely. All I ever wanted out of the RH are the awesome friendships that have come out of it and the people that surround the event. It's awesome to see so many people so grateful for it and showing true love and support for a professionally planned event.
TELSO: Throwing parties at this scale costs a lot of effort, risk, and money... what motivates you to keep throwing them? In other words... what's in it for you?
JC: Well' reverting back to the prior answer, I'd say that's the main reason for wanting to do them again and again. The love and friendships created in the process. The time it demands in order to deliver a well structured event is the number one obstacle in this equation. The cost would be the second obstacle but as long as we keep on getting the support of the fans and the understanding on their part that to deliver this kind of product is costly and the admission is as low as possible to cover the operation I think we'll be able to continue improving with each RH.
TELSO: Ever since inception of the RH, every Tom, Dick , and Harry wants to imitate your success. What makes the RH stand out in your opinion?
JC: I couldn't attribute it's success to one single reason. I rather think it is the energy and love we put into making it happen and the awesome people that constantly and unconditionally show their support.
TELSO: Everyone has been sending me emails, text messages, and phone calls to ask you who "JACK" really is. So the million dollar question, who is "JACK" ??
JC: Hummm, all I can say is that the Modasucka really knows how to throw a party. Next question pls....
TELSO: Wait, c'mon !! You holding out JC.
JC: I plea the 5th (laughs)
TELSO: Damn. Anyways... In one short sentence, what is one message you send to upcoming promoters that wish to throw events like the RH?
JC: Unfortunately there's no short answer to this question. I can only make one distinction and advise accordingly. A promoter is the person that takes care of making sure the event is out there for the for public review. He is hired by the person that owns the event to promote it. You never see Rusty promoting UMF do you?
TELSO: Fuck no... (laughs)... isn't that what promoters are suppose to be doing??
JC: Exactly... I think there's a misunderstanding on what a promoter's job is in some areas. In a small market like this it all seems to blend into the same pot. If you choose to promote your own event please do so in a professional way and deliver what you promise. This can only be done with the help of some self education on the product you want to sell.
TELSO: As a DJ that has thrown my own events, I can definitely attest to that. As a matter of fact, this blog started because of the surplus of events that lacked proper execution, marketing, and false hype... So I created a place where people can get objective, real-talk, and up-to-date info on what shows rock and which shows flop. But I digress... so what message would you have to the DJ's?
JC: (eyebrows rise, kicks back in the chair) Uff.... That's another impossibly short answer. All I can say is that DJ'ing is an art and in its purest form it's a trade far away from today's conventional beliefs as to what a DJ is.
TELSO: Interesting. Can you elaborate on that?
JC: For example, you may be a silver screen fan (aka movie goer) and love your movies but.... That doesn't make you an actor... does it? Same thing applies to people out there who are trying to be DJ's. Please reevaluate your abilities and priorities before deciding you can dj. Anyone can play music, very few can DJ.
TELSO: Now that's real-talk. It's not just SWFL, but all across the map there are so many people getting into the world of DJ'ing because of the glamour of being on stage, getting a shit load of groupies, the parties, the party-favors (for some, not all), and the for the love of music. I mean, although to some extent that is true, those are the perks, it shouldn't be the only thing that leads you into this "career" -- which is mainly about doing a lot of research on music, networking with other industry heads, SUPPORTING OTHER DJ's, attending seminars/workshops (like WMC), and genuinely in love with the music. If music was a chick, I'd bang her all day/night.
JC: (laughs)
TELSO: Alright, well thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer some of the questions that people are curious about. Good luck on your upcoming show, I am sure it will be a smashing success.
JC: Thank you for the love and support. We do this for the love of the fans, music, and we are all about the P.L.U.R.

MOONLIGHT MADNESS CRUISE
MOONLIGHT MADNESS CRUISE @ Downtown Fort Myers Harbor, November 19thBoarding starts @ 8:30pm
So you've been to the many raves, outdoor festivals... but have you ever partied up on a three level boat ??? Now is your chance. DJ Dew is working hard on introducing a whole new experience to the EDM scene. When I interviewed DJ Dew about his plans to redefine the sound and feel of the SWFL scene, I was impressed that he kept stressing the fact that "Quality" trumps "Quantity" -- He wanted to give the DJ's an opportunity to play more than an hour and it also gives the fans more time with their favorite DJ's. Here is a sneak peek of the deck layout....
DECK LEVEL 1 --- "THE PROMENADE"
--- Chill/Lounge
--- Downtempo
DECK LEVEL 2 --- "THE FORUM"
--- Top40 Dance Remixes
DECK LEVEL 3 --- "THE MOONLIGHT DECK"
--- Tech/Tribal House
--- Progressive/Vocal House
The line-up speaks for itself and will not disappoint. DJ Dew also mentioned that this event isn't going to be your typical warehouse rave where people will be in costume fluffies, wearing shorts/sandals, and a pair of shades... instead this will be a black attire dress to impress kind of night.... which is kind of nice for a change to have women all dolled up in a pretty dress and high heels ;-) and the fellas GQ'ed to impress the ladies. Black attire is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged to help keep the night looking sexxxy.
DJ Dew was aiming for the old Sway Lounge (now known as Loft59) vibe and crowd which was more of an upscale venue and it is also where Tiesto made his mark about 2 years ago, putting Naples of the EDM map. DJ Dew himself opened up for Tiesto that night with an amazing set, and he is ready to rekindle some of those magical moments bringing you the "MOONLIGHT MADNESS CRUISE."
Here is the rest of the event details...
--- Early-Bird Boarding Pass --- $15/ea.

WAKE UP FORT MYERS !!!
Having lived in Fort Myers, FL for over 20 years, I have been to countless parties, special events, club nights, etc. and I have seen what our once bustling DOWNTOWN FORT MYERS turn into GHOSTTOWN FORT MYERS. I have also seen a trend that has reached a boiling point in OUR community among the young adults that are affected by government sponsored...
AGE DISCRIMINATION !!!!
The definition of a legal adult, is any individual, male or female, who has reached the age of 18, and has the capacity to make informed choices. OUR government CAN send you to war for this country, OUR government CAN administer the death penalty, and their so-called "RIGHTS" CAN be trampled on if you dare to exercise your rights as an adult in Downtown Fort Myers...
It's time to WAKE UP !!!
WAKEUPFORTMYER.ORG is a movement to help restore sanity to our local government by exercising the ONE right they haven't screwed you out of yet.... the RIGHT TO VOTE... but these local politicians don't think your VOICE counts... so make sure you join the fight to end this senseless oppression of basic rights that are protected under our constitution.
OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT has a law/ordinance on the books that STOPS ANY LEGAL ADULT, ages 18-20, from exercising their LEGAL RIGHT to go attend a LEGAL establishment, and exercise their FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION in a PEACEFUL, RESPECTFUL, and ORDERLY way.
What occured this past Tuesday was a direct violation of our 1st and 4th amendment rights as defined by the U.S. Constitution. The first amendment rights were violated the day that ordinance was passed.
OUR 1st amendment protects our "Freedom of Speech and Association (aka right to assemble) which is recognized as a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT and defined as the RIGHT "to come together with other individuals and collectively express, promote, pursue and defend common interests"
So when 18-20 year olds gather/assemble in a place (INDIGO ROOM) because they love dance music, they express themselves by dancing/socializing, and they promote these interests (music) by telling their friends about this awesome culture (MIX TAPE), then they are exercising their basic rights as humans which IS protected by the U.S. Constitution.
Also protected by this amendment is the right to PURSUE and DEFEND their common interests, and this means refusing to allow their rights to be trampled... which ultimately will lead to erroneous arrests and/or intimidation by law enforcement, but IT IS a right that we do have NONE THE LESS... and we should defend it !!!
OUR 4th amendment "prohibits unreasonable search and seizures and sets out requirements for search warrants based on probable cause"
NO "crime" was being committed at MIX TAPE, yet law enforcement took it upon themselves to let themselves uninvited into an establishment and search/seize 18-20 year olds, and trample all over their 1st and 4th amendments. Not to mention public humiliation, unnecessary questioning from law enforcement (total invasion of their privacy), and threats/intimidation of being arrested.
MIX TAPE is a weekly event that takes place at the INDIGO ROOM, one of the longest running establishments that have weathered much of Downtown's economic downturns, non-sense ordinances, and the lack of innovation from our local government officials to do what they were hired (VOTED) to do... TO LEAD !!!
MIX TAPE has never engaged in illegal activity, there are no bar fights, they are not serving minors with alcohol, nor are underage kids (17 and under) being let in. This night allows local DJ's continue to push their careers forward by playing for a peaceful, fun loving, and loyal crowd... and at the same time stimulating the economy in the heart of Fort Myers... by supporting local establishments like the INDIGO ROOM.
Unfortunately, if you are between the ages 18-20, YOUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR RIGHTS !!!
They passed a local ordinance in 2002, that says that LAW ABIDING LEGAL ADULT (18-20) cannot participate in LEGAL ACTIVITIES, such as supporting a LEGAL establishment who is operating LEGALLY and supporting local artists, bands, musicians, etc.... only because alcohol is available for purchase....
Hmmmm okay... so what happens when a 18-20 year olds walks into 7-11, PUBLIX, or any RESTAURANTS for that matter.... they SELL alcohol too !!! Do you see law enforcement walking into any of those places with a camcorder recording activity of young adults and disrupting law abiding citizens??? No one is enforcing the ordinance at those LEGAL establishments yet they offer the same product for sale, alcohol. So what makes the INDIGO ROOM or any other establishment downtown area any different??
Two questions I'd like to ask our local government officials are....
1 - Why are we spending tax dollars on enforcing frivolous ordinances that harass law abiding 18-20 year olds and trampling their 1st & 4th amendments !?!? As far as I am concerned, this ordinance is invalid in the first place because it violates the U.S. Constitution.
2 - Why does our law enforcement feel that enforcing this ordinance will somehow increase public safety?? What crime is being committed, and who is it hurting?? Also, is there not enough crime out there to keep law enforcement busy with REAL crime??
The simply and ugly truth is, this ordinance is wasting tax payer's money and tying up law enforcement with useless raids, which translates into less cops to prevent REAL crime -- decreasing the overall public safety. This is simply negligent !!!
OUR government officials claim that they do not have enough resources tax money to sustain quality public education, they have laid off thousands of state employees, law enforcement, and other critical workers... Our government cries about not being able to "balance Florida's budget" but they have no problems wasting OUR tax dollars chasing 18-20 year olds out of legally operated local establishment....
... well... SHAME ON YOU... MAYOR RANDY HENDERSON JR for allowing such nonsense to be happening on YOUR watch. You should educate yourself about the current young adult culture, stop the stereotypes of people who enjoy EDM, back up your laws/ordinances with facts and common sense, stop catering to the old & wealthy, because Downtown Fort Myers belongs to young people just as much as any other age demographic because these young adults PAY TAXES TOO !!!!
I understand you hold a Bachelor's degree in Business, but I can't seem to understand the logic on why NOT ALLOWING 18-20 year olds support local establishments is going to help our local economy progress and makes NO business sense at all. I also do not understand why our city does not do MORE to meet the needs of these young adults by creating ordinances that represent them and improve their quality of life too.
I mean, does their QUALITY OF LIFE not matter to you???
DO YOU not realize that these neglected voters are going to hit the ballots soon??
These are important questions that need to be addressed sooner than later, because if the 2008 presidential elections didn't make it clear to you... young voters are a rising power in this country, and WE HAVE A VOICE !!!
So I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that you are unaware of the magnitude of the injustice this ordinance has caused for almost a decade, so we demand that you uphold your obligation as Mayor to represent ALL of your CITIZENS, which includes 18-20 year olds, and abolish this discriminatory ordinance immediately as it serves absolutely no purpose !!!

HOW TO PAINT FAILURE
DAYGLOW AFTER PARTY @ ALE MARY'S, Sept. 16th, 2011
<rant>
First and foremost, my sincerest apologies to those came out to support me last night at ALE MARY's and for the unfortunate violence that took place against our lovely friend Chani and her crew.
Words cannot describe the level of disappointment, disgust, resentment, and sadness that I experienced last night. So before the bullshit rumors start flowing, I am going to step up to the plate, and call it how it really is.
Before I begin, let me get something straight off my chest....
LES BANK$ is a fucking a$$hole...
.... and here is why....
#1 -- He is the one who threw the ALE MARY's party, and turned around BEHIND all our backs and went to OLYMPIA to DJ.... go ahead, take a moment to digest that one.
#2 -- Not only does he abandon his own party, but he leaves US the DJ's to resolve UNPAID security, staff, etc. We are DJ's, our job is to play GREAT music, not handle your UNPAID bills asshole !!!
#3 -- Some mass text "ANONYMOUSLY" goes out undermining the ALE MARY's party, saying that our shit was going to get shutdown, and people just split and headed to OLYMPIA.
NOW.... throughout this entire 3 hours of hell, not ONCE did LES call or text me back a fucking message to let me and the rest of us know what the fuck is going on. But I put two in two together, and realized that LES figured out that he was not going to make his money at ALE MARY's and took the only parachute in the burning plane and jumped out grinning.
Well, I got news for LES and every other asshole who aspires to become a DJ or Promoter in this town...
"IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO SHIT, DO IT RIGHT, PAY YOUR DJ'S, AND MAN UP WHEN YOU FUCK UP. Shitty promoting, undercutting, undermining, compulsive lying, back-stabbing, non-paying, self-absorbed, egotistical, irresponsible, unloyal, and deceiving tactics are just a few words that do not come close to describing how poisonous LES and other recent cluster fuck promoters are to any EDM scene, especially our growing SWFL scene"
#4 -- Lastly, my thoughts and prayers go out to Chani and her friends who reportedly got jumped in the parking lot while waiting for ALE MARY's to open up. Chani and her friends have been extremely instrumental in building the SWFL scene from the grassroots. HAD THERE BEEN PROPER SECURITY AND BETTER PLANNING, shit like this would have never happend !!!
~*~*~*~
So by now my blood is boiling, I went to OLYMPIA and only to be greeted by the man himself... LES BANKS with a "FUCK YOU, GET OUT MY FACE, AND GET OFF THE PROPERTY" warm welcoming.... guilty conscience, EH??
And after several minutes of him trying to convince me of his lies, I gave him a nice warm slice of reality about how much damage he is causing to the scene, the dj's, the fans with his bullshit events and cut-throat tactics.
Quick history lesson.... I have been NOTHING SHORT of a good friend to LES, I never let him down, always gave my honest opinion, I always came to support and DJ at his parties (AND NEVER SEEN A DIME), and always been a person he could trust, whenever he was a bind I would go out of my way to help him -- and I did that all in good faith that he would show the love back and respect me at the very least...
Apparently that was too much to ask for from him...
But when you think matters couldn't get even more fucked up, he turns around and throw MIKE ZINK under the bus saying that HE was put in charge and that MIKE... and i quote...
"It's all my fault that I put MIKE's stupid druken ass in charge of anything last night. I should have known better than to leave and idiot in charge"
WOW.... What are friends for?? I can only imagine how much shit is being said behind my back, and I am virtually no one to LES.
But LES eventually gave me a half ass apology last night for his "lack of proper management" but the truth is, it goes beyond "management" he trampled over so many basic principles, values, friendships, and professional code of ethics that every time I think of last night, my stomach turns.
If you are one of the "skeptics" and do not believe that all this shit went down, then ask yourself one question... why would he apologize for "the issues" last night then? (see below)
It's moments like these, that really makes me want to just give up on building a scene out here... but honestly, had it not been for the RabbitHoles, the Reality Checks, the official DAYGLOW (willie beamin), and other awesome events that were well nurtered by experienced promoters, I would have just given up on SWFL and moved back to the other coast.
However, it's the expressions on the faces of the fans, the memories, the pictures, videos, and friendships that are formed at these events that honestly keep me spinning my records... because i guarantee you that it isn't for the money or the fame.
So thank YOU, the fans, for your love and support !!!
